This book is an excellent introduction to the subject of Grobner bases. The intended audience has a mathematical maturity level typical of a beginning graduate student. The selection of topics is quite limited, but the exposition is very clear, concise and rigorous. The text has a generous peppering of useful examples as well as a substantial number of exercises. The exercise sets range in difficulty from trivial to quite challenging. For a more an introduction with a bit more depth see [0387979719], and for a more elementary introduction see [038797847X].
