Annotation:
This text discusses the CSparse package in detail, and in this way provides good insight into modern direct methods for sparse linear systems - circa the mid-1990s. Mathematical readers may find there is too much code, and software developers may find there is too much math. The coding style is very condensed, probably to shorten the total page count of the work, and the prose is quite terse at times. Still, this is a book work having on the shelf of the expert numerical analyst.
