The expert can expect to be disappointed by the lack of mathematical detail and precision; however, the book is still a more than worthwhile read for its stellar conceptual explanations of multivariate statistical tools and brilliant motivations for core statistical topics. For educators, this book is invaluable in that it provides instructors with new ways to approach difficult subjects students invariably have difficulty with -- especially students from non-mathematical degree programs. In fact, Kachigan's book is one of the best to be found when it comes to motivating core statistical topics and clearly explaining multivariate statistical analysis at a conceptual level.
